How to care for your trees
This is the page where we will add various tips and hints on how to care for the trees on your property whether it is a young sapling that you have planted yourself or a mature elder tree that started growing long before you were born. Just like humans and their pets, trees are living organisms that go through various stages of life that could affect how they live. Of course trees in the wild are like animals in the wild; they have adapted to their environment without the intervention of humans crowding in on their habitat. Lately we have become more aware of how climate change and invasive species have caused much stress to our country's forests but there is little that we can do to help those trees directly. We depend on governments to help out the wild trees with varying results through climate policies and tree plantings to replace mature trees lost through drought, fire or disease.
But the trees on our own properties or in our own streets and parks are in need of tender loving care and it is our responsibility to provide that care if we wish to have trees around us to be the lungs of our community and the source of much calm enjoyment of their beauty and variety. You can see from this website how Our Perth Trees tries to care for the trees on Perth's streets and parks and we will be holding a special Elder Tree Care Event Day in Stewart Park on Saturday the 12th July. Please join us for that event or become an OPT volunteer if you really wish to help the trees in our community?
In the meantime please stay tuned to this page and click on a button or page if it can help you care for a tree on your own property.
